Piano Lessons
When I was three, I started to take piano lessons.
Mom forced Louisa and I to take lessons. I still love her but I hated when she yelled at me. The three hour practices were still torture though. -Sophia |
I remember the time when I practicing piano with my mom.
They were not fun times. I remember smashing my hands on the piano when mom yelled at me a lot. I was so mad. I remember that Mom pulled me away from the piano and shoved me outside. It was so cold. My toes felt like they were going to freeze but I stayed out because I wanted to show mom how I was going to rebel. That memory reminded me that I eventually won. I got my way! -Louisa |
Piano Daughter
I had several different piano teachers growing up. One was named MJ. He always wore a suit and tie. I only took lessons with him for a couple weeks. I also had another teach that didn't really teach me much. I just remember playing with my dolls. Then I had another teacher that was pretty fun. Mom said I couldn't take lessons with him though.
Mom picked a teacher from the Neighborhood Music School in New Haven. Her name was Michelle. She made me fall in love with music. I learned a lot, from music history to music theory. When I was nine, I was able to win a local piano award for preforming a piece that was called Butterfly by Grieg. The piece is beautiful. It showed Mom and others the beauty in my playing. I put a lot of time and effort into the first competition. I practiced to what seemed like hours and hours with Mom by my side watching my every movement as I hit a keys on the piano. -Sophia |
