Trip to China
We're half-Chinese and half-American.
When we were younger, we used to have a nanny that would only speak to us in Chinese. It forced us to learn it. Mom doesn't know Mandarin that well. She speaks better in Hokkien Chinese.

Mommy, I'm not Chinese.
I remember saying that to Mom after visiting China.
I was different from everyone there. When I was in China, the citizens there had black hair. I was stuck with light brown hair. No one in China thought I was Chinese, even if I could speak the language. No one in America though I was Chinese too. It looked like I was clearly American. -Sophia |
